Carne Asada Recipe
If you enjoy vibrant Mexican flavors, carne asada is a classic choice. It’s a tender, flavorful cut of beef that works beautifully served simply or sliced thin for tacos, burritos, or salads.
Carne Asada
Prep time: 30 minutes (plus marinating)
Serves: 4–6
Ingredients:
4–5 pounds good-quality flank steak
4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
2 bunches cilantro, chopped
¼ cup olive oil
Juice of 3 limes
3 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 tablespoon kosher salt
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped cilantro, olive oil, lime juice, black pepper, and kosher salt. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Add the flank steak to the bowl and coat it thoroughly with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours to allow the flavors to develop.
When ready to cook, remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for even cooking.
Preheat a grill to medium-high. Grill the steak about five minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 20 minutes. Slice thinly against the grain and serve warm.
