Blackberries provide Vitamin C and fiber. Strawberries add Vitamin C and antioxidants. Bananas supply potassium and soluble fiber to help you feel satisfied. Ground flaxseed contributes extra fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.

Strawberry Blackberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients
- Blackberries – frozen work great for a chilled, thick smoothie; fresh berries also work well.
- Strawberries – frozen strawberries make preparation easy, but fresh are fine too.
- Banana – ripe but not overly soft; fresh or frozen both work.
- Greek yogurt – adds creaminess and protein. Use plain or your preferred variety. Substitute dairy-free yogurt to make it vegan.
- Almond milk or water – water keeps it light; vanilla almond milk adds extra flavor.
- Ground flaxseeds – boosts fiber and omega-3s.
- Ice – optional if using frozen fruit; useful when using fresh fruit to thicken the smoothie.

Equipment Needed
A good blender will make quick work of frozen fruit. Any blender you own will work; higher-powered blenders produce a smoother texture. Serve in a glass or pour into a travel cup for on-the-go enjoyment.
Strawberry Blackberry Smoothie – No Yogurt Option
To make this smoothie without yogurt, omit it or add a half scoop of protein powder for extra protein. For creaminess without dairy, use 1/4 ripe avocado or a scoop of dairy-free yogurt.

Tips and F.A.Q.
Any berries work well. The blackberry and strawberry mix in this recipe balances sweet and tart, but you can substitute or combine blueberries, raspberries or a mixed berry blend.
Yes. Frozen fruit creates a thicker, colder smoothie and reduces prep time, but fresh berries plus a few ice cubes will give a similar texture.
You can prepare it up to a day ahead and refrigerate it in a sealed container. Stir or re-blend with a few ice cubes before serving if it has separated.
Ripe bananas are versatile for breads, muffins, pancakes and other breakfast recipes. They also freeze well for future smoothies.
