My healthy banana split features frozen Greek yogurt, fresh summer berries and a generous drizzle of homemade clean-eating chocolate sauce made without refined sugar.

If you need proof that healthy eating can be delicious and satisfying, this healthy banana split is it.
Our clean-eating take on the classic banana split is beautiful and mouth-watering—and it tastes fantastic too.
You don’t have to give up the foods you love to maintain a healthy lifestyle; a few smart swaps can improve nutrition without sacrificing flavor.

Save calories with this Healthy Banana Split
A traditional banana split can contain up to 1,000 calories and around 30 grams of fat—often a large portion of a day’s total intake. That doesn’t mean you must avoid it completely; instead, make a lighter version at home.
In this recipe I use frozen Greek yogurt instead of ice cream to reduce fat and sugar while keeping a creamy texture. If you can find a low-sugar frozen yogurt where you live, that works well too and comes closer to the original experience.
The homemade clean-eating chocolate sauce in this recipe is rich and simple to make. Prepare a batch, store it in the fridge, and use it as a guilt-free topping for fruit, yogurt or other desserts.
Enjoy! 🙂

Top with the remaining berries, sprinkle with chopped roasted almonds, drizzle with the clean-eating chocolate sauce and serve immediately.

-
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the coconut sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch and sea salt. Gradually stir in the light coconut milk over medium heat. Cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture is smooth and thick, about 10 minutes.
-
Remove from heat, let cool to room temperature, then transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate. The sauce will keep for several weeks in the fridge.
