If you want to elevate your garlic bread, try this Caprese Garlic Bread. It’s one of the best garlic breads I’ve had in a long time—possibly the best. Garlic bread is a favorite at our table, something everyone looks forward to. I often make it from leftover bread or buy frozen loaves, but this time I decided to make a fresh version with a Caprese twist.

While shopping the evening before, I picked up a great loaf of Italian bread. Earlier in the week I had bought fresh mozzarella, and it was practically calling out to be used. I realized we’d never dressed up our garlic bread this way, so I added sliced tomatoes and a quick balsamic reduction. The result was delicious—bright, savory, and full of fresh flavor.

Ingredients
1 loaf Italian bread
4 tbsp softened butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
12 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
3 medium tomatoes, sliced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/3 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Directions
Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until it reduces by about half, then remove from heat and let it cool.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Mix the minced garlic into the softened butter. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter over the cut sides. Place the halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and arrange the mozzarella slices evenly over the bread.
Bake for about 12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the edges start to brown. Remove the bread from the oven and top with sliced tomatoes, chopped basil, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Finish by drizzling the cooled balsamic reduction over the top. Slice and serve warm.

I have to admit I was impatient while making this—just thinking about the flavors coming together made me eager to taste it. Balsamic glaze pairs wonderfully with the mozzarella, tomatoes, garlic, and basil, adding a sweet-tangy finish that lifts the whole dish.

Are you hungry yet? I certainly was and grabbed another piece before dinner. This garlic bread can easily be a light meal on its own. The combination of garlic, melted cheese, fresh tomatoes, basil, and balsamic is irresistible.

After trying this Caprese Garlic Bread, it’s hard to go back to plain garlic bread. The fresh ingredients transform it into a standout side or snack—even picky kids will eat it if you set their tomato slices aside. Give it a try the next time you want a simple recipe with big, fresh flavor.
