WonderWorks Pigeon Forge: Interactive Science Museum & Attractions

WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee offers interactive fun for visitors of all ages and encourages your imagination to run wild. Inside you’ll find more than 100 hands-on exhibits where you can feel hurricane-force winds, tackle the largest indoor ropes challenge course, enjoy interactive rides, and explore many other science- and amusement-style displays.

From the outside the building appears upside down, and that playful twist continues through the entryway. Once inside, WonderWorks feels like a blend of a science fair, an amusement park, and a children’s museum. The attraction occupies 55,000 square feet, with plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained for hours.

Highlights from my visit:

Bed of Nails

The Bed of Nails exhibit lets you lie on a platform fitted with 3,500 real nails. You recline on a surface first, then an attendant raises the nail bed beneath you. I felt a gentle prick along my arms — it’s a startling and memorable experience, and a great photo opportunity.

Bubble Lab

The Bubble Lab is a favorite for many guests. Multiple tubs of bubble solution and a variety of wands let you create bubbles in different shapes and sizes. It’s hands-on, playful, and especially appealing to younger visitors — we ended up spending the most time here.

Ropes Challenge Course

The Ropes Challenge Course rises 50 feet and spans four stories of rope obstacles, including swinging steps, lily pads, and a tremor bridge. The course is illuminated with neon accents in an otherwise dim space, adding to the thrill. During busy periods you may encounter long lines — we waited over an hour — so plan accordingly.

There are many more exhibits and activities throughout the facility, making it difficult to list everything. Some attractions require closed-toe shoes, so come prepared if you want to participate fully.
